Basia Mietus - Ontario Certified Teacher

Basia (pronouced ba-SHA) Mietus is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a passion for teaching hands-on science, math and STEM. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph in 2014 and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Education from Ontario Tech University in 2016. She loves to share her knowledge of technology with students especially graphic design, coding and robotics. Basia loves teaching at Caledon Elementary Academy because they offer small class sizes where she can customize the learning experience for each student’s individual strengths. 

Amanda Bodzasi - Accredited Montessori Educator

Ms. Amanda takes great satisfaction in her capacity to provide top-notch care and education to her students over the past two decades. She excels in establishing an ambiance of dynamic play and learning through practical experiences, while also adeptly crafting an environment in which children experience contentment, safety, and ease. Possessing excellent communication skills, she effortlessly forges productive working connections with fellow educators, school administrators, staff, and parents. Moreover, her unwavering professionalism is underscored by her exceptional personal warmth, patience, tolerance, empathy, understanding, and positivity.

Melissa Shannon - Ontario Certified Teacher

Ms. Melissa is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. She earned her degree in Psychology, and Child & Family Studies from the University of Guelph in 2016, before heading to Brock University for her Bachelor of Education. Through her studies, Melissa developed a love for creating dynamic lessons that capture the imagination of students while fostering critical thinking and collaboration. Student well-being is at the heart of Ms. Melissa’s teaching philosophy. She prioritizes social and emotional learning by embedding mindfulness, empathy and communication skills into daily classroom routines. She is so excited to be a part of the Caledon Elementary Academy family, and is looking forward to learning and growing with her students this year.
